Pre-Release Perspective: First Impressions of Acumatica 2020 R1

We’re getting excited for the annual Acumatica Summit customer and partner conference in Las Vegas next week. One of the most exciting parts of Acumatica Summit is giving Acumatica users their first look at the updates and new developments they can take advantage of in the new release. I am looking forward to seeing the following enhancements to be released in version 2020 R1.

Usability

Acumatica already has industry-leading, award-winning usability, yet they continue to make improving usability a priority in every release. In Acumatica 2020 R1, users can look forward to extending the new side panel functionality to entry screens, improved tab visibility and Generic Inquiry (GI) tab reordering capabilities, dashboard caching and auto-refresh so that they know they are looking at the most accurate, real-time data, and Pivot Table percentages and counts.

New Modules

Acumatica is extending the solution with new, embedded functionality in 2020 R1 by introducing Acumatica Payroll, Integrated Commerce with BigCommerce, and an Advanced Authentication feature switch.

Inventory and Order Management

Acumatica is constantly improving the way users track and manage inventory and ordering. In version 2020 R1, you can configure inventory items using different attributes via an inventory item matrix. Also, the new release supports wave and batch picking in the warehouse management capabilities.

Manufacturing and Service

A feature that we’ve seen sneak peeks of leading up to now is the ability to collect data via scanning on the shop floor. In Acumatica 2020 R1, you can also pre-assign lot/serial numbers on items. There are also improvements to employee scheduling and “what-if” scenarios, travel and break time recording, and route optimization.

Project and Construction

When it comes to handling projects, especially in the Construction Edition, look for vendor portal and transaction reconciliation enhancements as well as a retainage billing cap per project.

Acumatica Platform

Updates that cover the entire Acumatica platform include the ability to create an expense receipt from captured image, to auto-create a bill from an email attachment, to capture images to the web client using a mobile device, and to support parallel processing for data imports.
